What is Yoga

Clarity in Motion. Stillness in Breath. Union in of the unconscious with the conscious in awareness.

1. The Roots of Yoga

Yoga is not a trend. It is not exercise. It is not flexibility.

Yoga is a science of union — of the body, breath, and mind.

It began over 5,000 years ago in ancient India, with rishis and seekers who observed the movements of life, breath, and consciousness. The word Yoga comes from “yuj” — to yoke, to unite. Not just limbs, but Self with Self.

From the Vedas to Patanjali’s Sutras to the tantric lineages, yoga has always pointed toward one truth:

Liberation through presence.

2. My Training — 900hr Advanced TTC

I trained at The Yoga Institute (TYI) in Mumbai — the oldest organized yoga school in the world (est. 1918).

Skills & Areas of Study:

  • Classical Hatha Yoga (asana, kriya, bandha, mudra)
  • Pranayama for nervous system regulation
  • Yogic Psychology & behavior analysis
  • Applied Indian Philosophy (Samkhya, Vedanta, Gita)
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology (Western + Ayurvedic)
  • Satvik Counseling & Yogic Communication
  • Lifestyle design (diet, rhythm, stress response)
  • Therapeutic applications for trauma, anxiety, fatigue
  • Meditation, Dhyana, Self-enquiry
  • Methodology for teaching from awareness, not ego
This was a complete mind-body system — not a pose-based class, but a life path.

3. Tibetan Yantra Yoga – The Yoga of Breath and Movement

In addition to classical Hatha Yoga, I completed Level 1 and Level 2 training in Yantra Yoga, the Tibetan Yoga of Movement — as preserved and taught by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche.

This ancient system emphasizes coordinating breath with dynamic movement in a very precise and intentional way.

Key elements I’ve integrated into my teaching:

  • Closed-hold and open-hold breathing patterns (Kumbhaka)
  • 9 Purification Breath practice for clearing channels
  • Pranayama flows with exact rhythm and retentions
  • Movement sequences timed perfectly with inhale–exhale cycles
  • Training the nervous system for inner stillness in motion
This form of yoga is not only physical — it's deeply energetic. It teaches how to move from presence, to breathe with clarity, and to dissolve tension from the subtle body before it hardens into the physical one.

4. How I Teach

I don’t teach commercial yoga. I guide inner practice.

My sessions are breath-led, awareness-anchored, and trauma-informed. You’ll learn to:

  • Use breath as an inner compass
  • Move with intelligence and clarity
  • Re-pattern nervous system stress responses
  • Anchor deeply into the present (Rigpa awareness)
Every session is tailored — built on real needs, not routines.

5. The Science of Breath – Nervous System Mastery

Beyond traditional systems, I’ve studied the science of how breath influences the nervous system, brain states, and hormonal balance. What we now know through modern physiology aligns deeply with ancient breath practices.

Through precise breathwork, we can:

  • Down-regulate stress via the parasympathetic nervous system
  • Increase heart rate variability (HRV) for emotional resilience
  • Modulate CO₂ and O₂ levels to improve cellular efficiency
  • Access calm, focused brain states by controlling breath rhythm
  • Use nasal exhalation and breath holds to influence vagal tone
  • Shift from reactive patterns to reflective awareness
I incorporate this scientific understanding directly into my sessions, offering clients both the intuitive depth of ancient breathwork and the measurable benefits of nervous system regulation. It’s a powerful way to access clarity, energy, and presence — without needing to escape life, but by engaging it with intelligence.

6. Yoga Is For Everyone

You don’t need to be flexible. Better yet, the less flexible you are, the more growth you can experience! A key benefit of the way that I have learned is to make it totally safe for all physical limitations one may have.

You don’t need to “be spiritual.”

You only need to be willing to look inward.

Whether you’re healing trauma, managing stress, or exploring awareness — Yoga is the doorway back to what you never lost.

Yoga is not the solution. It is the remembrance of the self that was never broken.

7. Work With Me

I offer private yoga, breathwork, and integration sessions — in person or online.

Whether you seek clarity, calm, or reconnection with your inner nature — let's work together.

You’ll leave every session more aligned with yourself: physically, mentally, energetically.
